Day 46-64 (5/28/19-6/15/19) Waiting for Snow to Melt

I’m back home.  It’s awesome to be back, but I really feel like I have unfinished business and want to get back to it.

I was able to get in a fun day hike with my daughter and son in law. We climbed Mt Si which is near where we live.

I spent a fair amount of time trying to negotiate with Pat about when and where to get back on the trail.  I want to start at the Canadian border and go SOBO back to Ghost Ranch.  He says the bridges in Glacier aren’t in place yet.  WTF? We are thru hikers – we don’t need no stinking bridges.  Instead he wants to do some sort of weird piecemeal thing where we hike from Rogers Pass SOBO to Helena, then on to Anaconda.  Then after we get to Ghost Ranch we fly back to Glacier to do that and the Bob.

He has an itinerary all worked out where various friends and family pick us up and drop us off.  This all sounded great at first until I started looking at the miles per day and the dates.  He doesn’t want to do more than 10 or 15 miles per day and has a lot of zeros so he can visit and hike with his family. I expressed my concerns but didn’t get a lot of reassurance. I’m trying to be flexible here so I agree to give it a try. With his dates, there is no way we are going to finish before the snow flies in the fall.
