Day 32 Leave Grants

Today started with a road walk out of Grants.  We saw a dead badger by the side of road. This is the first badger I’ve ever seen. Too bad it was dead. 🙁  We left the highway and ascended a steep hillside to the top of a mesa. It was a gentle ascent towards Mt Taylor at this point.

There is a prison nearby so they don’t want you to pick up weirdos here.

There is a bush here with thorns and little white blossoms and leaves that look like currant.  I took a movie of one.  They smell so good!  Identify that plant! Edit: I believe it is a Gooseberry bush. Gooseberries are similar to Currant but have thorns.

The water cache was not where it was indicated on Guthooks and we had to go 2 more miles to find it.  I’m not sure if Guthooks is wrong or they moved the cache. We camped near the cache in some trees.
