Day 88 Reynolds Creek to Red Eagle Lake

Today was a low mileage day so I took a short detour to the Going to the Sun road and caught the free shuttle to the town named St Mary.  On the way I saw a small bear and coyote along the side of the road as we drove past.

After reaching St Mary I ate breakfast and bought some new pants to keep the bugs and nettles off my legs.  I talked with a local for a bit while I ate some additional treats from the convenience store – mostly just listening to him rant about politics. Suddenly the trail sounded really good, so I took the shuttle back to the trail and hoofed it to Red Eagle Lake.  There were no passes today and it was fairly flat.

I met a very friendly young couple named Knewt and KTeri. They are camped here at my campsite at Red Eagle Lake Head. They are just out for a weekend backpacking trip, but want to do the CDT someday and had many, many questions. 🙂 I really enjoyed their company.
